Ah, now - April is drawing near, bringing with it the cornucopic delights (and dangers) of the slambang pageant that is Eastercon. Also that month, Shadowgod will be issued in massmarket paperback and yea, shall spread forth across the land and mebbe earn me a shekel or twain in royalties.
My, that would be nice.
Also, there is the distinct possibility of a public event, a reading and sundry question-answering, involving myself and my colleague Debbie Miller `Lau`, perhaps at a certain Edinburgh bookshop, and maybe even as well at a certain Glasgow bookshop! Arrangement are ongoing and updates will appear here when its all done and dusted.
Also, I was perusing the latest Ansible (from the redoubtable Dave Langford) when I came across an item concerning Orson Scott Card`s opinions on the current foofaraw in the States over whether homosexual couples can be called `married` in law. His long comentary pretty much boils down to this paragraph -
"Just because homosexual partners wish to be called "married" and wish to force everyone else around them to regard them as "married," does not mean that their Humpty-Dumpty-ish wish should be granted at the expense of the common language, democratic process, and the facts of human social organization."
- which made me stop and wonder at such a narrow-minded, mean-spirited opinion could be voiced by someone who is supposedly a science fiction author. But then OSC is apparently a practising Mormon....with all the mindset baggage which that implies and is implied by the above morsel.
More later, peeps.
